In-Person Counseling Referral

If you or someone you know wants or needs to visit with a professional personal counselor, in-person counseling is available through Newman University. Please contact the Student Success Center located in Dugan or email [email protected] to receive the required counseling referral paperwork.

Counseling Referral Service Guidelines:

  • All referrals and services are confidential.
  • Short-term professional personal counseling with a licensed counselor is available for currently enrolled students at no cost.
  • Twelve (12) free counseling sessions are offered to students per academic year.
  • If a student fails to keep a scheduled appointment, the student’s account will be assessed $32.50 for the first missed appointment, increasing with each subsequent missed appointment.

Occupational Therapy

The University is responding to the mental health crisis on campus by offering Occupational Therapy services. This is a groundbreaking initiative that will assist Newman students to be successful on campus as well as in their private lives. These services are very effective, especially in conjunction with “talk” therapy. OT is more “doing” therapy where the student will have the opportunity to work on any problem that effects their daily living skills. This can include learning how to deal with anxieties related to academia including socialization, how to get organized, time management, tools to assist with communication with teachers and friends, and managing overall stress.

To complete a referral and schedule an appointment with Newman's Occupational Therapist, please contact the Student Success Center located in Dugan or email [email protected] to receive the required paperwork.
