TEACHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE FOR COLLEGE AND HIGHER EDUCATION (TEACH) GRANT
The College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 created the TEACH Grant program, which will allow eligible students to be awarded up to $4,000 per year ($16,000 maximum for a four year program) in grants. Graduate students are eligible for up to $4,000 per year ($8,000 maximum limit).
Due to Sequestration:
*Any Federal TEACH Grants disbursed on or after October 1, 2020, and before October 1, 2026, are subject to a 5.7% reduction. Students are eligible for up to $3,772 per award year.
The TEACH (Teacher Educational Assistance for College and Higher Education) Grant is different from other federal student grants because it requires you to take certain kinds of classes in order to get the grant, and then do a certain kind of job to keep the grant from turning into a loan.

Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship
The Kansas Teacher Service Scholarship is a merit-based service obligation scholarship program that provides financial assistance to both students pursuing bachelor's degree programs and currently licensed teachers pursuing endorsement in hard-to-fill disciplines or master's degrees in hard-to-fill disciplines or either group planning to teach in an underserved geographic area. Recipients sign agreements to teach one year for each year of scholarship support in Kansas.

Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)
Graduate students are eligible to receive Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans. The annual loan limit for graduate and professional students is $20,500. Tax Deductibility of Tuition Payments
Students paying for all or part of their tuition may be entitled to tax deductions. Because deductibility is dependent on your personal tax status, you should consult with your tax specialist or accountant to determine any potential tax savings for qualifying tuition payments. The university will provide you with a 1098T for any tuition billed during a calendar year.

After receiving your Honors offer, confirm your interest by participating in at least one Honors event during the academic year. This is your chance to meet students and staff, ask questions, and see if Honors is the right fit for you.
Ways to confirm:
- Participate in a mock Honors class or game
- Visit a Freshman Honors Seminar class
- Attend a virtual information session
- Meet with Honors during a weekday campus visit
- Attend the Honors lunch during a campus visit event

Good news: Most of these 27 credits overlap with courses you're already taking. The 18 hours of honors courses are just honors sections of gen-eds and Newman Studies courses you'd take anyway, like philosophy, theology, history, literature. By taking honors sections of these courses, you're choosing more engaging versions of the same requirements.

An interdisciplinary course, ordinarily team-taught, that explores human nature and what it means to be human from a variety of perspectives.

Earn 18 additional honors credits through three pathways:
- Designated honors classes: Courses with "HNRS" prefix or an "H" following the course number
- Honors options: Regular courses expanded with additional honors-level work, arranged with your instructor and approved by the Honors Director
- Independent study: Conference courses negotiated between you and instructors for deep exploration of a topic
At least 9 of these credits must be earned outside your "school" (e.g., if you're a science major, take some honors courses in humanities or social sciences).

A year-long independent research project on a topic you choose, completed under faculty mentorship.
- Ordinarily completed during your senior year
- Guided by a faculty advisor in your field
- Presented to a committee: your advisor, the Honors Director, and two other faculty members
- Showcased at the end-of-year Thesis Showcase
The thesis is often the most meaningful academic experience of your college career.
Transfer Student Requirements
- Fewer than 15 credits earned: Complete all standard requirements (27 total honors credits)
- 15–45 credits earned: May graduate with 21 total honors credits
- More than 45 credits earned: May graduate with 18 total honors credits; freshman seminar requirement may be substituted

Don't see a course you need? Many regular courses can become "honors" through an honors option — additional work arranged with your instructor and approved by the Honors Director. This flexibility means you can earn honors credit in almost any subject that interests you.

The St. Maria de Mattias Endowment is a fund of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita which is intended to support innovative catechetical programs in order to help strengthen religious education in the Wichita and Dodge City Catholic Dioceses.
Through the support of the St. Maria de Mattias Endowment and the through the generosity of the Most Reverend Carl Kemme, Bishop of Wichita, a limited number of full-tuition scholarships are available to qualified catechists of the Wichita and Dodge City dioceses.
To qualify for a full-tuition scholarship, students must be active in the catechetical ministry within the Diocese of Wichita or Dodge City at the parish level and must also have the approval of their pastor. DRE’s; OCIA catechists; Youth Catechists; Adult Education Catechists and any other catechetical ministry at the parish level supported by the local pastor qualify a student to receive a full-tuition scholarship from the St. Maria de Mattias Endowment.
