    Program Objectives

    The Business Data Analytics degree will equip students to:

    1. Understand fundamental business concepts, practices, and trends;
    2. Demonstrate skill in interpersonal communication, written communication, team participation, and presentation delivery;
    3. Acquire data from multiple sources and prepare data for analysis;
    4. Explore and analyze data to discover valuable insights;
    5. Clearly and persuasively communicate data-driven insights through data visualizations, reports, and presentations.

    Core Data Analytics Courses

    DATA ANALYSIS & VISUALIZATION

    An introduction to the principles and best practices of discovering meaning in data. Students develop proficiency manipulating and visualizing data with industry-standard software packages including Excel and Tableau Desktop.


    DATA VISUALIZATION

    Students will develop higher level skills in the preparation and design of data visualizations, including reports and interactive digital dashboards using software such as Tableau Desktop and/or Microsoft Power BI.


    DESCRIPTIVE & PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS

    Students will deepen their understanding of data analysis processes and methods, with a particular focus on descriptive analytics and predictive analytics methods.


    DATA ANALYTICS PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    A study of project management theory and practice with data analytics projects in mind.


    BUSINESS INTERNSHIP

    All students in the Newman University School of Business are required to earn an internship. Data Analytics students are among those most highly sought after.
