A degree at Newman University will prepare you for

  • High school mathematics teacher or AP Calculus/Statistics instructor
  • Math curriculum specialist or instructional coach
  • Department chair or math program coordinator
  • Educational technology specialist for mathematics

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or Mathematics Education

Program Structure

30 credit hours | 10 courses

Summer Intensive Courses (Mathematics Content): Two mathematics courses offered each summer during one-week intensive sessions in June. Collaborate with fellow math educators to deepen content knowledge and explore innovative teaching methods.

Fall & Spring Semesters (Education Core): Eight-week courses delivered through flexible online format with live and recorded Zoom sessions. Complete coursework in curriculum theory, instructional strategies, educational research, and professional writing.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in math education, or related field
  • Current teaching license (or eligibility for community college teaching)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Two letters of recommendation
