Chemistry Pedagogy Newman University's Chemistry Pedagogy program provides you with the knowledge and relevant skills to set you on the path to a fulfilling career.

A degree at Newman University will prepare you for

  • Adjunct or full-time faculty at community colleges and junior colleges
  • High school chemistry teacher or AP Chemistry instructor
  • Science curriculum specialist or instructional coach
  • Department chair or science program coordinator

Degree Requirements & Curriculum

Program Structure

30 credit hours | 10 courses

Summer Intensive Courses (Chemistry Content): Two chemistry courses offered each summer during one-week intensive sessions in June. Collaborate with fellow chemistry educators to deepen content knowledge and explore innovative teaching methods.

Fall & Spring Semesters (Education Core): Eight-week courses delivered through flexible online format with live and recorded Zoom sessions. Complete coursework in curriculum theory, instructional strategies, educational research, and professional writing.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemistry education, or related field
  • Current teaching license (or eligibility for community college teaching)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale)
  • Two letters of recommendation
