Living on campus should be about making memories, not worrying about a leaky sink or a flickering light.
Our Facilities team is here to make sure your room feels like home (and stays fully functional!). Whether you’ve encountered a mysterious drip or just need to know who’s responsible for the snow on the sidewalk, we’ve got the answers. Use this guide to help us help you keep things running smoothly.
Students can submit a maintenance request through the Facilities work order system:

Residence hall students may also report issues to their Resident Assistant (RA), who can help ensure the request is submitted and tracked.
Please include as much detail as possible so our team can respond quickly.
Emergency issues are those that pose a safety risk or could cause immediate damage to the building.
Examples include active water leaks, flooding, loss of power, no heat in cold weather, strong odors such as gas, or safety hazards.
If you experience an emergency, contact Campus Security at 316-942-4291 ext. 2911 or Facilities at 316-942-4291 ext. 2824 immediately. Do not wait to submit an online request or go through an RA.
Newman1933!Response times depend on the type of request.
- Emergency issues are addressed immediately.
- Urgent requests are typically handled the same day.
- Routine requests are generally completed within one to three business days.
Requests are prioritized based on safety and impact to students.
Students should report any issue that affects safety, function, or comfort.
Common examples include heating or cooling concerns, plumbing issues, electrical problems, lighting outages, broken fixtures, or pest concerns.
Facilities staff will knock and announce themselves before entering a residence hall room.
If you are not present, staff may enter to complete the requested work and will leave a notice or update indicating the work completed.
Custodial staff clean common areas such as hallways, lounges, and shared restrooms on a regular schedule.
Students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms and removing personal trash. Keeping shared spaces clean is a community responsibility.
If you notice an issue in a common area such as a restroom or lounge, report it to your RA or submit a request through the Facilities work order system.
The Grounds team prioritizes main walkways, building entrances, and high traffic areas first.
Conditions may remain slippery during active weather events, so students should use caution. Hazardous areas can be reported to Facilities or through an RA.
Students can report issues such as icy sidewalks, broken pavement, lighting outages, or other concerns by submitting a maintenance request, notifying their RA, or contacting Facilities at 316-942-4291 ext. 2824.
If you notice a leak or flooding, contact Facilities at 316-942-4291 ext. 2824 or Campus Security at 316-942-4291 ext. 2911 immediately.
If it is safe to do so, remove personal belongings from the affected area. Do not attempt to fix the issue yourself.
