FIELD PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE
The field practicum is an integral part of the MSW program. The practicum provides a laboratory for students to demonstrate mastery of social work skills. Multiple placement opportunities are available, including medical facilities, schools, community mental health centers, family service agencies, correctional facilities, programs for the elderly, children's services, substance abuse programs, military and veterans services and women’s programs, among many others. Students are supervised by agency-based social workers with consultation by a faculty liaison. Integrative Seminars further assist students in merging classroom and practicum experience.
The Advanced Standing Field Practicum consists of 20 hours per week over 30 weeks during the academic year for a total of 600 hours of practicum experience in the field agency. Along with the 20 hours of Integrative Seminar class time, the student will complete 620 clock-hours of training and field experience.
