Michael Duxler Ph.D. 1994 received his doctorate at the University of Texas (Arlington) Family Systems. Dr. Duxler is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Newman University (Wichita, KS) since 2002. In 2013, he co-founded/co-directed Wichita in Mind, a grassroots community organization designed to apply neural biology findings to educators, medical professionals and military veterans. Due to the success of this initiative, Dr. Duxler was co-presented with Congressman Tim Ryan (D. Ohio) author of A Mindful Nation at Wisdom 2.0 (2015) in San Francisco, CA.
Prior to his university position, Dr. Duxler worked at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital in Dallas, Texas for fifteen years. He then became the Associate Dean at New Mexico Highlands University before joining Newman’s faculty in 2002.
In addition to his faculty appointment, from 2006 through 2012 Dr. Duxler served as Director of Operations for the Supporting Healthy Marriage Initiative for Kansas. Kansas was one of eight national sites to design and implement a randomly assigned, longitudinal study funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service to inform federal policy to mitigate generational poverty.
