The Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990 was amended and renamed the Jeannie Clery Act in October 1998. This act requires the annual disclosure of statistics of specific crimes and arrests which occurred on the university campus.
Newman University has a low incidence of criminal activity. However, all of us as members of the university community must actively work together to continue to prevent crime, to be aware of situations which might foster criminal activity and to properly report all levels of crime immediately when it occurs. Through cooperative vigilance and accurate reporting we can maintain the safe campus environment that has been an important part of the Newman University experience.
