Led by experienced facilitators at Newman University, the program combines hands-on training with thoughtful reflection. You’ll learn the essential capabilities of Power BI, create custom visualizations, connect and clean data from multiple sources, and explore some of the software’s more advanced features. The Experience
We will hold six (6) meetings: Tuesday’s 5:30 – 6:40pm, on the following dates:
- Sep 9, 16, 23
- Oct 7, 14, 21
Meetings will be available both in-person and online:
- We will meet in-person at the Newman University campus Alumni Center in Dugan Library.
- Online attendance will be available via Microsoft Teams. Meetings will be recorded and posted online after the meetings.
Participants will share an online portal, including:
- Weekly announcements with recommended preparation steps prior to each meeting.
- Recommended videos, articles, and online resources for your use between meetings.
- Discussion boards for sharing ideas between meetings.
Learning Objectives
Participants will:
- Engage in a supportive learning community of professionals who are enhancing their data analysis skills and committed to learning together.
- Learn to utilize the industry-leading capabilities of Microsoft Power BI for data analysis, including data visualization, data ingestion, data cleaning, the construction of custom fields, and data filtering.
- Study and practice the art and science of effective visualization techniques to communicate the meaning of data in a way that is clear, professional, and persuasive.
- Prepare and present a compelling data story of your own.
