Empowering students to pursue higher education with a higher purpose

Higher learning shouldn't be a solo adventure. We created Navigator because we believe student success is about surrounding them with a dedicated support team from day one.

It's peers and professors, sponsors and staff, mentors and alumni - all working together to help students rise to the challenges of their educational journey.

You will be guided by a dedicated support team that includes

First Year Navigation Team

Faculty mentors and peer facilitators in your first year orientation courses (T & T and Flight Planning) will help you navigate your first year experiences at Newman and assist you in developing your customized education plan.

GPS (Guide to Personal Success) Team

Your GPS team will help you identify leadership experiences and career internship/shadowing opportunities, provide feedback on the professional portfolio throughout your NU experience, and be a resource for you as you consider your future career goals. Your GPS team includes:
  • Leadership sponsor – A faculty or staff member selected by you based on your leadership interests (e.g., club sponsor, athletic coach, academic advisor, NU employer)
  • Community mentor – An alumni mentor, current boss, or family friend selected by you who will help guide you in your career interests
  • Academic advisor will meet with you regularly to ensure that your education plan continues to meet your education and career goals

Additionally, the Runway Learning Center has services available to all students that include access to a success coach to help students address personal challenges to success and tutoring services staffed by trained peer tutors. Staff within the Office of Career Services provide expert guidance with resume writing and mock interviews.

Built for Newman students by the Newman community, Navigator isn’t some simple how-to guide for college. It’s a super-charged support system designed to empower students to shape their future and their impact on the world around them.
