Cheryl Golden

Cheryl Golden is an ancient history, teaching classes on the History of Greece and Rome. Her research and teaching interests include the history of medicine and law. She has earned Newman’s Teaching and Advising Excellence awards. She helped develop and launch Newman’s freshman experience, emphasizing skills development, student persistence, and experiential learning. Dr. Golden’s research and teaching are interdisciplinary. She has developed a freshman learning community, partnering with Fine Arts, and eight separate interdisciplinary courses, working with faculty in Sociology, Psychology, Chemistry, Philosophy, and Theology. Dr. Golden currently serves as NU’s Faculty Senate President and is a member of several boards in the region, supporting public museums, public education and history.
