Make-up exams
If students miss an exam they can take the exam in the Testing Center located in the Runway Learning Center (SH301).
- Contact your instructor to arrange for the exam to be sent to the the Runway Learning Center via the Test Center Submission Form.
- Schedule a time when you can make-up the exam by going to the online scheduler website.
- The first time available testing time slot is 8:30 AM. If you are required to take a test earlier than 8:30, faculty should contact the Runway Learning Center in advance.
- Go to the Runway Learning Center and take your exam at the scheduled time. (You must have photo ID to take an exam)
Please note, during testing students will be required to leave all personal items, including cell phones and smart watches, in the lockers provided by the Runway Learning Center.
CLEP exams
The College Level Examination Program also known as College Level Equivalency Program(CLEP) is a group of standardized tests created and administered by College Board.[1] These tests assess college-level knowledge and can be used for credit at Newman for 33 different subjects. These exams are administered online through a CLEP designated computer. Visit www.clep.org to learn more.

Proctor exams
Students may utilize our testing center to take exams for courses (typically online) from other universities that require a proctor. The student must verify with their university that our testing center is approved to proctor their exam. Online Math Placement Assessment
Newman University is committed to providing instruction that will allow you to succeed. The purpose of this placement assessment is to insure that you are appropriately advised into the correct level of mathematics to insure your academic success.
In order that we can properly place you, please note the following expectations:
- 40-minute time limit
- Do not use a calculator
- Do not get help from other sources (e.g., internet; textbook).
Failure to adhere to the guidelines of a 40 minute time limit (timer is on assessment) and no use of calculator will distort your abilities. By submission of the answer you are indicating that you understand the purpose of this assessment and that it is in no way indicative of your future success in mathematics course.

Writing Placement Prompt
In order to determine the best writing course for students, the student will take the Writing Placement assessment. If a student has not taken College Writing I, he/she will need to take the assessment. Click the Writing Placement link and begin the assessment.
