Lauren Rorebeck '11

Since graduation Lauren Rorebeck joined Wesley Medical Center as an RN in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit in August. Lauren is a second generation Newman university graduate, daughter of '83 Steve and Cathy Rorebeck of Goddard.

Greetings from Chance Suiter of Cullison, KS.  Chance is currently a truck driving instructor for Seward County Community College in Liberal, KS.

Elizabeth (Shanklin-Reed) Woolever '07

Newman University (1998-Present)
Since graduation Elizabeth Shanklin-Reed married Jeremy Woolever and they recently welcomed a daughter, Faith.  Elizabeth has been working for AT&T, but will return to teaching in December.  The Woolever family resides in Wichita, KS.

Sylverina (Enslinger) SHJC '47 and Harold Depperschmidt

Harold and Sylverina Depperschmidt, members of St. Margaret Mary Parish, Wichita, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a Mass and dinner reception with their family and friends.  Harold was a machinist at Boeing for over 30 years, retiring in 1992.  Sylverina was employed with Research Partnership, retiring in 1992.  They raised 4 daughters, and have 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grand-children.

Donna Wesley Morse A'51

Donna Wesely Morse passed away May 21, 2011; while Donna had survived a bout of breast cancer many years ago, it returned and she lost her battle against it.  Our sympathy to her daghter Laurie Owens and granddaughter, Raylene  Schroeder Boros '01.

Georgia (Wiggins) Drewes '10

Congratulations to newlyweds Georgia Wiggins and Christopher Drewes who were married on September 10, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Wichita.  Georgia is a 2010 graduate of Newman University with a BA in theology and is studying for a MA in theology at Newman U.  She is also the director of youth development at West Acres Bowl.  Christopher is a 2009 graduate of Wichita State University and is an engineer with Defense Contract Management Agency.  The...

Sr. Rose Mary Stein celebrates her 50 year Jubilee as a Dominican Sister this year.  She completed a BS degree in elementary Education at Sacred Heart College and an advanced degree in Adult Christ Community Development at Regis College in Denver.  Sr. Rosemary's career began in the classrooms of elementary students in the Dioceses of Wichita, Dodge City and Denver.  She began teaching at the high school level and then became part of a team ministry in three rural parishes of...

Sr. Joan Ice, OP celebrated her 50 year Jubilee as a Dominican Sister.  When Sr. Joan first received the habit as a Dominican Sister in Great Bend, KS, she received the name Sr. Mary Albertine.  She later returned to her baptismal name, Joan.  Sr. Joan attended Immaculate Conception College in Great Bend, and Sacred Heart College in Wichita.  She spent a year of internship at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita and graduated from Sacred Heart College with a BS in medical...

Carolyn F. Hrencher, 71, of Sharon, KS died September 22, 2011.  Carolyn and Clarence, who died in 2003, made their home on a farm three miles west of Sharon, where they worked together long hours raising sheep and growing wheat.  During this time she raised six children, which later resulted in 17 grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and earned the title "Grandma Care".  She is survived by sons, Kelly (Chris), Dan (Melissa), Nick (Jill), daughters, Coleen (Mike) Stein, Mary (...

Gino Salerno '88

Kansas Newman College (1973-1998)
Gino Salerno's work as an artist, musician, photographer and films was the subject of a feature article in the Wichita Eagle's art section on September 4, 2011.  Salermo works as a physician assistant at Via Christi-St. Francis while pursuing his art.  He recently completed a wood carving in the new Children's Garden at Botanica in Wichita.
