Diane Molitor Palmer SHC '67

Sacred Heart College (1954-1972)
Diane Molitor Palmer will climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for Charity!  At 65 years young she is heading to Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro on January 16, 2011.  She will stay in Africa until April 1st visiting and volunteering at the missions she is raising funds for.  Diane has fond memories of Sacred College.  She especially liked the grounds and the chapel.  After her sophomore she went to Chicago to get a job and stay with her older sister--and fell in love with Chicago....

Margaret Jean "Peggy" Hogan, 86, homemaker, passed away November 19, 2010.  She was the mother of five Newman alumni.  The Hogans were life long members of All Saints Parish in Wichita.  She is survived by her children: Rose (Patrick) Finn, Peggy '74 and Kenneth '80 Hipp, Michael '79 and Elizabeth Hogan, Mary Anne and Dean '75 Voth, Monica Hogan, Theresa Hogan, Patrick and (Rita) Hogan, Jack and (Julie) Hogan, and Joseph Hogan.  There are 21 grandchildren and 12 great-...

Virginia (Jarmer) SCH '61 and Jack Steele

Congratulations to Virginia and Jack Steele of Wichita on their 50th Wedding Anniversary!  Jack is the founder and President of Mail Marketing Plus, Inc., a direct mail advertising company which has produced major corporate mailings across the nation.  Virginia developed the E-Z Baby Tote baby carrier.  They have five children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rosemary Niedens, Assoc. Vice President

Betty Lockeby, mother of Newman University’s Academic VP of Student Services, Rosemary Niedens, passed away Sunday morning around 4:00am.  Funeral services will be Thursday, November 18th, in southern Illinois.  Many of you know that Rosemary has been caring for her mother in her own home.  Please pray for the repose of Betty’s soul, for her family who will miss her very much, and for Rosemary who will feel the loss more than we can know.

Mildred O'Reilly Goebel

Mildred O-Reilly Goebel, Sacred Heart Academy Class of 1937, of Roseburg, Oregon, died on October 20, 2010 at the age of 92.   Mildred’s son Richard shared that she suffered a heart attack on New Year’s Eve in 2009, and that she occasionally reminded others of her remarkably recovery by waving a doctor’s written prediction that she could be expected to live 5 to 7 days following that episode.  A fall the week before she passed caused 11 of her 13 living children to travel to...

Sr. M. Clarissa Tenbrink, ASC A'42, SHC '56

Sr. M. Clarissa Tenbrink died Nov. 7, 2010, at the Wichita Center in Wichita, KS.  She was 85; 69 of her years were lived as a professed Adorer of the Blood of Christ.  During more than 55 years of education ministry Sr. Clarissa served in many capacities.  She was a classroom teacher, ASC supervisor of Education, high school principal, instructor of parish religious education teachers, and diocesan superintendant of schools.  She claimed, " It is through education...

Sr. Mary Jane Bohrer SHC '53

Sr. Mary Jane Bohrer, age 82, died October 3, 2010.  Sr. Mary Jane was a member of the Congregation of St. Joseph and teacher in Catholic Schools for many years.  Since 1995 Sr. Mary Jane has been involved with the Via Christi Hospital.  Sending our sympathy to the Bohrer family and the Sisters of St. Joseph.

Mary A. Hermann Puckett A'47

Mary A. Hermann-Puckett, 81, of Manhattan, KS died Oct. 20, 2010.  From 1966 to 1974 she was associated with Kansas Newman College, Wichita, as an Assistant Professor, Director of Counseling and Chairman of the Department of Psychology.  She moved to Manhattan, KS and was named staff chaplain at St. Mary Hospital in 1975.  In 1984 Mary went to work as a Chaplain/Psychologist for Pawnee Mental Health Services.  Mary will be fondly remembered for her dedication in offering...

Erin Beth (Fuller) Stewart '04

Newman University (1998-Present)
Erin Fuller married Jason Stewart on Oct. 16, 2010, at St. John's Catholic Church in Beloit, KS.  Erin is a 2004 graduate of Newman University.  She is a radiologic technologist at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.  Jason works for Pestinger Distributing also in Beloit, KS.  Congratulations!

Angeline SHC'64 and Dan Biggs

Angie and Dan Biggs celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on October 24, 2010.  They were married in 1950 at St. Mary's Aleppo, KS.  Their children, Greg, Sharon, Brad, Connie, Marianne, Judi and Dan III hosted a reception  at Wheatlands' Health Care Center in Kingman, KS.
