Students who had an IEP in school, please note:

While an IEP provides the background evaluations needed, it does not function in college the way it functions K-12. It is the student’s responsibility to request the assistive technology and accommodations that are necessary to receive an equal opportunity to demonstrate knowledge. Universities are not required to modify the curriculum of any course, nor are they required to provide more intensive tutoring than they provide for non-disabled students. Furthermore, the diagnostic report should include recommendations for accommodation(s), along with a rationale for each accommodation. Past accommodations do not necessarily guarantee a current need for each individual accommodation and it is the student’s responsibility to demonstrate need for the requested accommodations. Should the Director of Disability Services need further clarification in order to determine whether the accommodation is reasonable, further assessment may be required.
